It is a common misconception that the tile itself is waterproof, however it is not. It’s the material that the tile is installed on that should provide the waterproofing. Common tile substrates such as cement backer board or sheetrock are not waterproof.

In almost 20 years that HRH Construction Inc. has been in business, we have yet to remove a single bathroom that did not have water damage, at minimum. This is why we exclusively use the Schluter family of products to ensure a watertight foundation for all our bathroom projects, saving our clients from costly repairs down the line.
